That's a gorgeous hammer you posted on the homemade tools thread! Tell us how you attached the UHMW faces to the body!

I based it loosely on the design by John Paulding.
Goggle his name, with "hammer" and you'll get some great info. (he posted it to several of the competing boards)
I did my own proportions, but used the same concepts as his.
The head shrink fits to the handle, two 1" long 1/4" set screws further lock it in place, with about 1/4" left proud of the faces.
I drilled the UHMW faces with a #7 bit, and they threaded right onto the screws and have stayed secure through "rigorous" testing. Other face materials would probably need to be tapped.

I like that his design is a functional, contemporary update to a classic shop starter project.
It was a very satisfying project, a nice break from a really tedious worm-hole of a project I've got going.
