Ok.. it's late. What do you use a socket holder for on a press?

I use them for pressing seals, bearing, pulleys, the socket in first pic has been machined smooth on ID and the face machined square. In third pic on right hand corner is a rack of assortment on my Greenerd from 1/4'' to 1" sockets all machined. They work great.

Yes, you learn something new everyday. A good way to put those cheap Chinese sockets to work...

I'd rather make a set of mild steel pushers..... avoids the socket shattering with splinters bouncing all over the shop. Common for cheap chinese ones to shatter.

I do occasionally use sockets for bearings, seals etc, but usually just make my own piloted pushers. Over the years I have a pretty good set. But yes, I can see how it would be useful.

Nice work, and really nice TIG..

Impact sockets are not as hard so they won't shatter and are easier to machine.
