Interesting account of a small town near the Virgina/West Virginia border that grew a small pig-iron industry in the 1870-1930 time-frame, said industry succumbing to labor and transportation difficulties, as well as the discovery of cheaper-to-exploit iron-ore deposits in the American West. According to Wikipedia, Low Moor is .8 square miles in area, with a population of 210 or so (2010).

(Low Moor figures in the X-Files reboot, which is how I heard of the place.)
