Is there anyone out there who has had some success with shop built EDM? I built one as per Popular Science 60's issue and just can't get the system to work smoothly. Does anyone have ideas. I am trying to remove a broken tap from a piece that is becoming quite expensive.
There was an extensive series on building such a machine some time ago in HSM. A search of the index on this site should be productive.

Thanks. I have that series of articles but not the time to do anything about it now. However, with some inovative changes to the PS system I made it work and well enough to do the job I required. Now that the principle is proven I shall have to refine it.

Have you tried eGroups? at www.egroups.com (http://www.egroups.com) You will want the group named CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO. This is a good group of guys. Also check out rec.crafts.metalworking newsgroup and www.metalworking.com (http://www.metalworking.com) which is an archived picture post and thru Google, an archive of 25,000 past posts to the newsgroup above with a pretty good search format.
