I traced all the wires in me new acquisition (a model 16 Van Norman) and now understand how it is wired but have some questions. It is wired for 550V 3 Phase power, I have a 2HP 3 Phase motor to replace the 1.5Hp spindle motor but still need to come up with a replacement feed motor (1/3HP 3 Phase). I have a 3/4HP single phase that would fit and I may use that.
Question 1: The contactor is 550V. Can I replace the coil with one for 220V and if so where might I find one the correct size? Or would I have to rewind this one?
Question 2: There are 2 blocks attached to the sides of the contactor and 2 more mounted above it. Are these some kind of overload protection and would they be voltage specific?
Question 3: Would I be better off just replacing the lot? If so how do I figure out what to buy?
Question 4: Can I feed a single Phase motor off the 2 non-generated legs or will this cause an imbalance in the power for the 3 Phase motor?
Question 5: If I pass the neutral wire through from the single Phase side can I use one of the non-generated legs and the nutral to get 110V power for the work light?
Thanks,
