Additional Glass scale Rip-off Racket ?

So I was thinking of putting the Z readout on the column/knee instead of the quill. I already got one scale for the quill which would be waaaay too short for the column/knee.

So I contact the seller on ebay and he gives me a price of 189.95 for one additional scale. When you order they'll give you any size you want, and exchange within 30 days, but beyond that you get screwed in the a$$.

Does anyone know a reasonable seller of glass scales ?

Put it on both. I used an old DRO and scale for the knee. PITA to mount the knee scale as there are no flat/planar surfaces (on BP) . I ended up drilling and tapping three holes at each mount point (2 for scale) one for head) and placed the mount tabs on the threaded potion so it could be adjusted in all three planes. Worked out well.

I bought my scales and display directly from Ditron. Even with the shipping it would probably be half the price quoted. If you Google Ditron you should get a link to Alibaba where you can find Ditron and a lot of other scale and display manufacturers.

Try buying Acu-rite or Newall scales. They probably cost more than your entire installation

Well weisenheimer, No, but at that price
buying 3 scales would put the DRO at
near free. The price ratio is waaay high.
I could buy a 2 axis DRO for not much
more, order two long length scales and
then just switch out the 12" and come
            out waaay ahead.

You seem to have arrived at a solution that gives you a spare scale and readout I'm thinking

I had to replace a glass scale on my Klopp mill. Stop whining! I did buy a "real" glass scale and not some cheap import. See that is what is wrong with people today. They have a sense of entitlement. The seller makes you a good deal on what you ordered and then you come back and expect him to bend over because you changed your mind. What a piker!!!!

Acu Rite is what I have on all my machines. Never a problem and they have great tech support and a decent warranty.
This is what can happen when you start mixing and matching brand and buying from unknowledgeable sellers on eBay.
