Has anyone used either of these for grooving, threading and small parting? I was given a Thinbit type L holder but before I invest in inserts, I was wondering what you guys thought about it vs the Nicole system.

Are they not practically one in the same?

The Thinbit (Kaiser) inserts are sort of a side dovetail and clamp while the Nicole system appears to mount on the side of the tool with a screw thru the insert, in a similar fashion to some larger systems.

I've heard that the Nicole inserts do not have any side clearance so I was looking for thoughts on either or both.

I've got a Thinbit "groove & turn" holder already but the insert cost will end up overshadowing the tool cost for either system so I want to be careful before plunking down the cash.

I find the Nicole unit very useful. It works well for doing stuff that it was never designed
to do. Like plunging in a groove and then taking a turn out. Havn't fully figured out how to use the turning inserts though.
