Anybody had any experience with OXA tool posts? Would I be ahead to go with AXA on a 7" lathe? Thanks everybody.

I doubt it. I use an AXA on my 12X36 and it fits nicely.

The AXA will be more rigid. I can't believe I used the word rigid in a mini lathe post

The AXA size may be too big for a 7" lathe, don't know for sure.

I have an OXA tool post. It is just right for a 7 x12 lathe. The tool holder is low enough for a 3/8 tool shank or a 1/2 inch boring bar. It's plenty stiff enough for using carbide or HSS.

If you bought an AXA you would likely be restricted to 1/4 inch tools because of the thickness of the bottom of the tool holder.

At the end of the project, there is a profound difference between spare parts and left over parts.

I'd use a sipler cheaper toolpost & save the $$ till I got a bigger lathe as it won't add any resale to the 7". Just my opinion.
