We were walking through a department store when I stopped to watch a small 3D printer being demonstrated.

I asked the young man in charge of it what it is good for and he told us they could be used for cake decorating. My wife said I could buy one if I wanted to!

You know, that's exactly how these extruder machines started out in life, putting frosting on cakes. Well, so I've been told.

Actually I need to try this. My homebuilt CNC has an 18" work cube and my wife decorates cakes. Maybe she'd appreciate the machine in the garage more if I added a stepper driven syringe and could do perfect lettering and drawing on the cake.

Metal chips in the frosting would most likely be a deal breaker :-o
