3 jaw/scroll I can understand.
Why does it matter that the #1 jaw go into the #1 slot etc on a 4jaw? I would assume all the parts are made to the exact same spec and would be interchangeable. Hand fitment from factory? Maybe it has nothing to do with function of chuck per se and the jaws are numbered so operator can keep track in event the jaws are modified and need to be 'indexed' correctly? In this case the chuck is a Burnerd. Slots are numbered externally for obvious reasons, jaws must be removed to see number.
