I have a 300 gallon IBC tank about 50’ away from where I want the water.
I am using this style of pump:
Scenario 1-
To water an area, I use a garden hose from the tank and pump to a nozzle with a shut off. It would be good if, when I shut off the valve at the nozzle, the water pump shuts off.
Scenario 2-
I would like to plumb a spigot from the tank. Ideally, the pump typically has power and when I open the spigot, I get water.
I would rather not use a pressure tank and I like the idea of the pump automatically cutting off if the tank runs dry.
If I use one of these:
Will the flow just cut the pump in and out constantly so I get pulsing and short pump life?
When the valve is opened, will the pressure drop enough so that the low pressure cutoff just shuts the pump down (until manually reset)?
I am assuming, with very little knowledge (only used it once and didn’t verify), that it will not hold pressure.
If so, could/should I simply use one of these and just be careful not to run dry?
This isn’t very important, so I don’t wish to put much money into it, and a stupid simple, easy to assemble/takedown setup would be great.
So, what is the easiest/cheapest way to accomplish this?
Thanks!
