I have added a low cost tachometer to my lathe. I figured some of you guys may find it useful.

This is the YouTube video https://youtu.be/BpoCIYH8hOg

If reading and or pictures is more your speed. Then my blog could also fill the need. http://engineerd3d.ddns.net/lathe-tachometer-retrofit/

Hopefully someone finds it useful.

Nice install!

I've used a couple of those so far.One red display and one blue display one.The red one I have looks identical to yours down to the wiring and behaves the same. The Blue one has much faster response time, but cost about twice what the other one did for some reason.

Here's a thread that I started when I installed a similar tach on my lathe. http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net/threads/73306-Installing-tachometer-on-my-lathe
Of course PB killed all the pics, so it's not much use anymore. #$%&

I bought a green one specifically and it was my only requirement as I did not have much experience with this kind of module. The item number is 401150914306 for the one I bought.
