The hot setup in car waxing is ceramic nano coating. It cost around $1000. Is this a marketing scheme or does it work? Would it work for bare steel? What do people think? Edwin Dirnbeck

I am pretty sure this is common in Nigeria, but you have to prepay.

Edit to add: Never heard of it, but it sounds hinky to me.

Ceramic wax? What? I don't see the two going together... ceramic and wax.

Nice packaging, though, that's worth more than the product, apparently.

Typical scam type advert... buzz word use, slick packaging, all designed to make you think you are getting something real.

So many red flags.

The fractured English. The gratuitous buzz words. The unsupported claims.

Sure glad it protects against the "iron powder" menace, though.

I don't know anything about this coating for car paint. Somewhat related though, there is a ceramic nano coating (not a paint) for rifle barrels that works very well to resist fouling and corrosion. That stuff is applied to bare steel, and there are two different products, one for inside the bore (exposed to high heat, pressure, and friction) and another for external surfaces mainly for rust prevention. The final product looks similar to a waxed surface, although it does not contain wax and lasts much longer. I expect similar technology could be used to protect paint as well.

I had my new car treated with Cilajet four years ago. I can attest that is does indeed work.

It also is not cheap. JR

A friend just paid $65K for a new pickup, what more would it cost to make the thuck from SS? In 10-15 years his truck will be worth scrap price. I wish I could buy an early 1970s Int Scout.

I have multiple friends that detail cars professionally. So of coarse they jumped on the ceramic stuff. Also funny that none of them weld. So I was able to work out a deal to trade a bit of welding for a full detail with ceramic and all. That was just this last fall when I put the vehicle away for storage so I don't know how well it works yet. We will see over this summer.

I know I wouldn't actually pay for it.

Why would you put something containing a ceramic on a paint finish?
Ceramics are by nature, hard and abrasive. Ridiculous.

I have a neighbor in Florida that paid $12,000 to have his yacht "ceramic" coated.
The sellers "guaranteed" it would last 5 years.
He is the retired head of a NY stock exchange listed company.
