This is something I have been thinking for I while. I have one pair of cheap digital calipers that I use for scribing but they need sharpening constantly. Mitutoyo and others have also carbide tipped scribing calipers but they are costly, mitutoyo is about 300 usd.

Take the cheapo calipers, used 2mm thick MGM200 parting insert..sprinkle some brazing flux and add piece of silver braze:
Normally I would use small propane torch but it would spread too much heat to caliper scale. So hit it with TIG since I don't want to cook the scale on the caliper body. (note, DONT use cadmium bearing braze with TIG)
Not pretty but neither am I. Grind to shape and go to town:
