I was just gathering info to diag a tractor electrical problem. The threads included helpful photos with terminals labeled. I saved those photos, but because they were hosted on pb, they did not actually save. It seems like the images get saved, but you just get useless html. This is definitely intentional, PB does not want anyone saving images. I've been burned by this before. The alternative is to do screen captures, which is time consuming.

Yet one more you couldn't pay me to use PB.

Also with PB, sometimes image links are posted to the site and the images won't appear. Imgur is also very problematic in that regard - they place an extreme emphasis on injecting advertising.

As mentioned before, there are much better alternatives. And some of those alternatives don't do any of those things. You can save images just fine, and the images are viewable in just about any browser. http://use.com is one of the good ones.

I do not and will not ever post another picture on PB.

However, I have left the existing pics on PB just so previous posts are not destroyed.

Imgur has NEVER EVEN ONCE failed to post a pic when I wanted it to post. I have no idea what you are doing wrong, but as far as I can see, Imgur JF works. I do not even know HOW you can do anything wrong with Imgur, but........

Di I expect Imgur to work forever? NO. I do not even expect THIS site to work forever. Or this version of the internet, for that matter... I do not expect this version of the Internet will work forever. We'll probably have to use the chinese version in a few years, and sites like this will not be allowed.

I must be missing something. Open the image on PB, right click and "save image as" (windows function), or, to the right of the image there is a list of options, one of which is "download". click it.. done in seconds and as JPEG not "html"

I have my own server and hosting, but prefer not to use it for forum posts. I registered my first domain in the late 80's, complete with a luxurious class-B address space.

One must make sure the file saved correctly, and you didn't simply save a link in the form of an html. Free image hosting services are the gypsies of the internet.

It is 64K of html. I have written scripts in the past that downloaded and archived large numbers of pb images. This is part of their effort to thwart that.

I'm not having your problems with downloading from PB.

You're probably saving the page, and not the image. If you look at the source code for the page, you should find a link to the JPG file(s) it contains. If it is a full URL, and not relative, you should be able to copy/paste it into the browser address bar and view the image directly. But you will still have to download the image itself.

Yes, PB can suck an egg. I have been using this forums photo hosting service untill my main desktop desided to stop working. Now I have to use PB to grab old photos that are on my desktop also.

Trying to get this thing up and running so I can get my 1000s of photos.

Big pain in the butt. JR

If this is true, it must be something new, because when they turned off the hosting I was able to download most of the images that I had there with no problems. I did that because they were already reduced in size to fit on the computer screen and organized in albums by the areas that I post about. I will have to try downloading some again just to see.
