One of my newer students saw the pictures, and in a wierd moment asked what this had to do with machining, and another student asked a bit later "What's the surface footage for fish on the lathe".
I have some strange ones this year, could be a longgggggggg year.

I'm impressed, jealous really, haven't been fishing in years,no freakin time anymore.
I started too last spring, but by the time I added up what it would cost to gear up again I just went and sat by the river and watched the sunset.

The fish was caught on the Columbia River between Vancouver and Portland about 200 yards west of the I205 bridge. Weird or any of the rest of you if you ever get time come and see me I will take you fishing. I don't always get this lucky though. I am going again tomorrow they will be closing the season soon before I get another day off.

Gundog, I grew up in Seattle. used to catch silvers off of Widby Island. What we catch in the lakes over hear in Spokane would barely qualify for bait. Very nice fish. Enjoy.

2'-8" on the wheelbarrow, what was the test line on that one? I never caught a whelbarrow before, nor have ever seen a wheelbarrow with a fish handle..
Good looking fish. good job!

The family was out of town so I went fishing by myself. I wanted a picture to send to my father in-law he is recovering from open heart surgery. I was getting ready to go get a nail and nail it to the fence for the pic when the wheel barrow came into view the rest is history.
This is a average size Chinook 24# 37" the big ones weigh closer to 50# and really huge will get into 60#. I thought you guys might like to see her. The offer still stands for the fishing trip I moved here 1.5 years ago and I work a rotating shift so I have not met many people I fish alone most of the time. We have some huge sturgeon here as well I have not fished for them yet but I plan on starting soon. Sturgeon can get to 14' I would definitely need a bigger wheel barrow.

When I was a kid just after WW II fish like that were common. Years of war and the time to re-establish the fishing industry had let the fish runs bounce back.
Somewhere in the family archives is a photo of me as a husky ten year old standing one one end of a 2 x 12 plank on a centered rock balanced by two king salmon on the other end. Even by the '50's the local Shipyard fishing derbies in Hood Canal were won with 30 to 40 lb fish. These days a 15 pounder is a whopper eliciting reminiscences like mine here.
