Meant to post this earlier in the week but forgot.
Got the current copy of Model Engineers Workshop last weekend and in there was a trade write up for a PC based DRO by Richard Bartlett, the guy who does the Compucut system and mill.
Nothing on his web site just this trade preview in MEW.
It's a 4 axis windows based DRO that will accept the input from the Chinese scales or an encoder. They have already told you how to modify a mouse to work as an encoder in earlier issues [ these I'm missing as yet ]
It consists of a CD with details and software on it, a bare printed circuit board and a pre programmed PIC chip for آ£35 UKP + آ£5.00 P&P
An extra آ£20 will get you all the components to make the board up.
Rang the guy up today and it will accept diameter mode, inch/metric, and presets.
I think I'll have a punt and see what it's like
I was going to scan the article in, and post a link, as it's a trade review and not a copywrited magazine article but Gert has tidied up and I can't find it.
I must have 20,000 other books she hasn't tidied up and I can find all of those.
I'll post it later.
