Hi group,

I have the tailstock quill that I was told is from a SB lathe. I bought this years ago from a long time SB dealer who was liquidating his parts inventory.

The OD of this quill is 1", with a #2 Morse taper, 5-1/8" oal. It has no markings whatsoever on it. Does this sound like an SB quill?

I intend to use this quill unmodified in the tailstock of an older Walker-Turner wood lathe which is missing it's quill (it fits perfectly). Also missing is the quill feed screw which I'll have to make.

To make the new screw I need to determine the thread size. From an eye ball inspection it appears to be a 1/2" Acme, left hand. Tpi is unknown, but easy to find. Did SB use a standard Acme thread?

Thanks.

DR, on my SB 9 the diammeter is 1.080 thread is 1/2 x 10 left hand. Standard acme I presume.
