I have been looking through the archives for the photos that you took of the moon through your telescope.

I think that they were here, http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//Forum1/HTML/003199.html
but now they are gone.

Would you mind posting them again?

I took off most of my old pics to conserve server bandwidth. You can see my astrophotos including the moon pic at:

Here is a pic I took recently of the full moon with my new Canon Digital Rebel. This is with only the 300mm telephoto lens, no telescope. Also no multiple image stacking or special processing. It is the equivalent of about nine times optical zoom and ten times digital zoom.

One good or bad thing depending on how you look at it,a 300mm lens on the "300D/Rebel" is equivelant to a 480mm lens on a normal SLR.
My 50mm lens is at approx 80mm,it just means I have to stand further back if there's room.

Evan...I'm glad you're enjoying that camera.

Moon in your photo looks a little green around the edges, I thought that green cheese thing had been disproven. http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif

It's a jpeg artifact on what is essentially a greyscale object.

Post the Raw pic on this thread in all of its glory size unchanged, lets see what that Digital Rebel can do! http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//smile.gif I got a cable modem!

I can't. The RAW image is around 5 megabytes and won't display anyway. It has to be converted to jpeg to display here. If I convert it to a lossless format like tiff it will still be around 3mb and still won't display. Sorry. This BBS gets too many hits to put up anything large.

At some future time I will make available some full pics on my website. I'll let you know.
