Some people have nothing better to worry about. Do you really like that site or you just want something to "Be Amazed" about?

I haven't been able to go there all day and haven't seen anything posted here like Don usually does. Is anybody else having this trouble?

He is probably changing hosting services. It could take a while for the DNS SOA to propogate so may come back up at different times for different people.

The General(temporary) section is active. Don has posted status reports.

Last estimate (as of about 1600EST) was that the site will be back up at 2000EST today.

Once the new host is active, all of the DNS servers around the world have to be updated with the new address. This can take up to 24 hours. I suspect some people can access the new site now. Just keep trying.

I can't get it either! Here's the errors I'm getting:

There was a compilation error while loading the UBB.classic libraries and data files:

Hi Don,

General Temp has been up all day. I assume it's on the old server. Just tried the board and only General Temp comes up.

Don,

I was able to get just the general temp discussion as you said this noon (MST) but I tried again around 7:00 pm MST and got the error as I posted above. Tried again 10:30 pm MST and still same error message.

yep, worked earlier, now down with a varying error message.

Currently this, found when entering via the "click lathe to enter" button from home page:

Try this link

it is direct to the general temp forum.

Don,

What's the IP address of the new site? We could access it directly until the DNS servers get updated.

Just checked it and still nothing but General Temp.

Now, why are you guys worried about such a trivial matter such as this? You know better conversations and arguements are better on this site!??

While www.practicalmachinist.com (http://www.practicalmachinist.com) was at 69.5.5.241 I had access to the General forum, but once the address changed to 207.158.22.61 I began getting the perl errors that Mike described. If I use the old IP address I can get to the old server, but since the DNS entry now points to the new address, and the since the links generated by UBB are absolute (include the DNS name), the browser keeps going back to the new site.

It looks like this was a somewhat difficult upgrade/change, so I'd encourage everyone to be patient while the kinks are worked out. On the other hand, you know you're addicted to something once they take it away! http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//eek.gif

And that entry point gives the same type error as the other.

Obviusly there is a hassle with the changeover. We aren't complaining, but notifying. Obviously, per the comments above, Don was not fully aware that there were problems.

BUT... I can't log in!

Here's the error:

I was unable to find that file or directory. Please check the paths.

The exact error returned by the operating system is:
No such file or directory

But, it's not working for me. I get the following message when I try to log in:

"Sorry, UBB has encountered an unexpected, fatal error. This error is extremely abnormal. Please contact the board administration. The error text is:
...

Can't open 'MembersPath/memberslist.cgi'.

I was unable to find that file or directory. Please check the paths.

The exact error returned by the operating system is:
No such file or directory

» Please use your browser's back button to return."

And, when I try to open a thread in the general temporary forum, I ge tthis:

"You have requested a topic that does not exist!

» Please use your browser's back button to return."

So, what's the correct address, and how are we supposed to get past the error messages?

I got the same "extremely unusual error" when I logged out and tried to log in again.

Apparently the error isn't so unusual anymore http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//wink.gif

Now I'm thinking that maybe I shouldn't have logged out..... could be trouble ahead getting logged in again....

Those of you where the new server DNS has not propogated to you ISP yet, can see the new server at this link

http://207.158.22.61/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi

You can read the posts, however when you register to post something yourself it will knock you back over to the old server ! http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//mad.gif

Should clear up today at some point, but I've been so wrong about "when it will happen" predictions in this project, I'm afraid to predit anymore.
