OT computer question

I bought a student edition of an older Pro-E off ebay a couple of months ago.
It worked fine when I first installed it, but now I get a DOS window with a string of error messages. Mostly "out of environment space", with a few bad command or filename.

This isn't supported by the vendor any more. It isn't "supposed" to have a time limit. Reinstalling the software didn't fix it. Google didn't turn up anything useful, either.

Any ideas?

OK... nevermind.
I've been messing around with this for 2 or 3 weeks, and it only occurred to me to search for the error message (as opposed to Pro-E specific help) after I posted the question.

I found the answer here, which was the first link in Google.

Look at the config.sys and autoexec.bat files in the root directory (c:\). See if some other installation has remarked out or otherwise clobbered environment variables or the path for your program.
