I do not know where they can be purchased now, but at one time, Model and Allied Publications had the plans for 6 different Diesel engines available for sale.

ruddy, Metal Lathe Accessories has a kit and plans for a single cylinder diesel engine; http://www.statecollegecentral.com/metallathe/MLA-17.html

It includes all materials, drawings and instructions. I have no connection, and have not built it, but have seen it and made other items from MLA, and they are of good quality.

Ruddy Go to http://archive.dstc.edu.au/BDU/staff/ron/index.html
Find Motor Boys Book in the left hand column and click on that. It's not free but it's the best you will find.

Check out mlprojects club(link below) on Yahoo. Go to the files section and look under the compressionignition heading;

There's diesels and then there's diesels.....

The MLA for instance, is a carbureted "diesel", not an injection diesel. Most small "diesels" are. The fuel requires an easily ignited component such as ether.

A non-carbureted diesel needs an injector. That's harder to miniaturize, because fluid mechanics doesn't scale very well...the fuel is harder to atomize if you need only as much atomized as would stick to a pin.....versus several ml for a large diesel.

Look under Special Engine Articles; they list some diesels there.

Have fun!
