  3. At any rate, though, it sounds like your decision was logical; get into it as cheap as you can, learn the basics, then upgrade when the machine becomes a limitation, and you'll have a better idea of what to look for.

Basic Information

About Brian H.
I've been active in home shop and other machining for about 12 years. I now have 3 Benchmaster mills, 1 each Sherline lathe and mill, a South Bend 10K, a Grizzly 9x20, a 1971 Powermatic varispeed drill press, and a 6" Ammco shaper. I currently (Dec. 2014) work at a medium-large aerospace machine shop, programming and running mostly Makino and Mori Seiki milling machines.

I'm also a graduate of Oklahoma State University's Mechanical Engineering Technology program. I currently have 3 years of mechanical design and 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
Tulsa, Oklahoma and NW Arkansas
target shooting, aviation, PC games (especially old ones)
Machinist, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineer, depending on the day
