Sorry Bill, I have the Jet 1236, and still haven't found a drain plug.

I have a 1024. Not sure exactly what you are asking. I have not found a drain plug for the power feed gearbox that is located on the headstock. The oil from lubricating the pulley bushings and gears inside the actual headstock drips down and drains through a hole in the headstock casting through the headstock side leg.

Default jet 1024

im looking for the drainplug for the main shaft bearings in the headstock. Im assuming they are in an oilbath, because of the oil level windows.

To drain the oil in these lathes, you just have to remove the plastic level gauges. They are just held in by an O-Ring.

You can get some of the oil out by removing the site glasses but not all of it.

Only way I can think of to drain all the oil is to loosen the seal retainers.

Yes, pull the seal housings off the front and back of the spindle. Rear takes longer because of the nuts but not bad to do.
