Thought you'd like to see it before it gets into a nice box.

Looks great David! Have you rigged the probe on the drill press yet?

Hi Lazlo..
Okay.. I started my day today 4:30am, the coffee maker would not work.. back to the receptacle, no power, to the breaker panel, breaker was on. Pulled the panel cover, power on the breaker out wire. Pulled the receptacle from the wall, no power. Took the wire loose, hooked a fox-hound up to the wire, traced it, no signal in the kitchen. Traced it around the house, thinking possibly a squirrel had eat the wire in two. OK.. there.. plain as day.. a gfci, just like I was supposed to have done, put it in a dry location to feed the ones in the wet location.. clicked it in.. made my coffee.. Now I am moving "dining room table projects to the shop. Ya know them capacitors "FIT" in the bottom box of that edm? I need a couple more big ones.. and four switches.. then it will be "EXACTLY" like Langlois design. Well it don't look like his.. but.. same electricially. Except.. you know me.. I can't leave it alone.. I got a CT a relay, a 120volt synch-stepper motor, instant reversing.. for the down feed.. PLANS? high voltage bus voltage, feed down, high current, low voltage bus volts, feed up. Bottom limit made, cycle and turn off. RAISE probe till top limit.. shut all down.. White in operation It will sit there and bump uglies till it has a hole to the depth I set it at.. Pictures when it works that way.. I am hunting parts now in the junk pile.. I mean my shop.. All this started with a ram horn exhaust manifold one of the bolts are broken off in, welded with rust? I can not hammer it loose, tried to drill it on the cnc, it ran off into the softer cast iron crooked.. NOW, I am pissed. EDM is going to HELP.. not cure this.. OKAY? I got another unit took apart, I see the larger edm unit to affix to the cnc coming.. this is portable. Each time the electrode sparks underwater, it looks like a octopus inking up the water.. the exploded metal suspended in the fluid.. black cloud each spark..

Probe is too large diameter to effectively use this unit. OK? I need to dress the tip.
BUT: using a vibrating "engraving" pen upon the probe to "vibrate it" does induce a chain reaction of sparks. NO current control, NO voltage control, no bus charging circuitry yet.. and yet it cuts quite well. Simplicity. Nothing to break. I have the other basic stamp lcd-opto22 modules out on the dining room table. Of interest to try is the two ECR cube electronic 40 amp relays. THE program inside the stamp, well it has a bus charge , and a output discharge Pulse time. Problem is the unit works by charging up the capacitor bank, the DISCHARGING them with high current pulse.. I am not sure if the cubes will fry and die yet. I suppose the discharge spark is in hundreds of micro-second amps through a 40 amp relay. I will play with the time bases to determine what charge-discharge ratio works best. Let the bus charge as per Langlois design, wide open though a limiting resistor, and pulse the output at maximum effectivness. Heck, let's let the smoke out.. or?? FOR extending the electrode? well.. I banged my shin on a ford "retractable radio antennae" that looks pretty close to what I want.. it says in big letters on the motor, do not hook power to the motor directly.. Use the module.

Vibrating pen test. Runs a good arc, but I think I still want another capacitor or two. It is the high current unloading, spark that does the metal erosion

HOW well would the "washing soda" I use in derusting work for this as dielectric fluid, it softens the water and the chemicals alter the conductivity..

Another one of Langlois EDM's:
![]() To see it run: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v3...EDMworking.flv Before: ![]() After: ![]() Use regular dielectric fluid. I works ten times better than water. Outback
