Default V-Twin update

Have not had much time in the past two weeks but I did get started on the carburetors.

Here is a shot of the gear case with all the stuff installed on the inside.

All the cams, tappets, and posts are now hardened and ready for duty. The two small gears in the brass piece are the oil pumping gears. I left off the cover so you can see them. Hope to put in about 10 hours this weekend working on it. I might even take a day off work next week to work on it.

Jeff

Nice work Jeff, and you are making excellent progress.

The engine is Jerry Howell's V-Twin. Specs are here for those not familiar with it;

Please don't be offened...

Did you make or purchase the gears? Either way that's nice bit of work.
How many hours into it are you?

Scale - Small gears in the brass oil pump are .312 diameter. Large Bore in gear case is 2.125". All gears are hand made with a gear cutter and dividing head. Screw in the oil pump are 2-56 and screws that hold the gears on are 5-40.

I probably have about 120 hours in it. Hope to have less than 200 when completed.

Here are some shots from the other week. You probaby can search on V-Twin and find some of the older pictures. Once I'm finished I'll probably put them all together in a post with the links so the dial up users don't have to wait.

Jeff, I remember you posting pics of those gears but didn't realize on small they were. Do you have any pics of cutting those small ones. I would like to see the set up.

Great Job!!!

Just like a V twin. You have to put paper down to catch the leak.
Every V twin i ever owned leaked oil.

Very, very nice. The best thing about this hobby is there is no end of interesting things to make.
