You can also get them from here plus loads of others

http://www.stevespages.com/page7d.htm

The barrels and actions book would have to be bought but only if you can't get what you want from the others.

Default Brownell's

My old man before he died built one of barrel drills that brownell's sales the video/dvd for. It worked quite well, we did several 20 cal barrels. Building one is quite a project, I think he did it so he could say he built everything on the gun; barrel, action, and stock.

"Barrels and Actions" (1991) by Harold Hoffman can be purchased on the web, fairly cheap too, and while it isn't as good it has a lot of good info including that on button rifling and how to make a button rifling machine.

Making barrel rifling machines and equipment isn't very hard, using that equipment to get a good barrel is the tricky bit. Don't expect success right out of the gate.

Just downloaded The Modern Gunsmith, all I can say is WOW!That is about as thorough as it gets, worth the time just for e section on engraving and checkering,Thanks for the link!

I have a hard copy and will not part with it. It is one of the classic gunsmithing books. James Howe is the Howe of Griffith and Howe, makers of some of the finest custom rifles ever made.

Another good book, not as good as the modern gunsmith but a good read and a free download is "Advanced Gunsmithing", link below

This guy has a good setup. I made a copy of it, made a couple pistol barrels.
First one was a total failure, second one worked OK though.
Fairly big learning curve (for me at least) but I did learn quite a bit and it is neat to be able to say that "yes, I did the rifling too".
