You can't really see too well in the picture below but I broke not one but two 2-56 taps off in the receiver. The screws were two of four to be used for hold downs. I gave up trying to get them out and modified the plan to used just one srew per hold down and a 1/16" pin.
The picture below has the hinge pin for the action installed in it's slot. And here are the hold downs. They could also be called keepers I suppose, they keep the hinge pin in place. |

And here it is with the keepers sitting where they belong.
When it's finished the stock bracket will overlap the keepers and will be held in place by at least 2 10-32 screws so I think/hope this will be ok. Below is the trigger assembly roughed out. I decided to use a tang off the rear of the trigger guard as the operating lever. It will be similar to a TC contender but longer. When finished I'll bend it into an arc. I'll post more pics as I go along. Hopefully I won't make too many more mistakes. The night I broke the taps was not a good one, I broke about 4 drill bits first. Should have quit after that, it was an omen. |

Well, you are right, cant really tell in the picture but the explanation is enough to know that it had to be a bummer, at least it was thoughtful enough to break in the same place on both, nice recovery BTW.
Do you have a link to a completed Vault Lock rifle? not familiar with them. |

On page 40. Fig. 3-27. Extractor housing there are two dimensions for the ejector hole .505 down from the top and .685 measured from the front. The .685 dimension is in error. I first believed it should be .585 and used that dimension on my first actions, But believe it could be from .585 to .605. Hope you have not drilled the holes in the housing already. Bob |

Thanks very much, I haven't. I'll check carefully before drilling. Is there something that would tell me where it should be drilled in the range you mentioned?
Incidentally, I was in San Jose week before last on business. You anywhere near there? Jeff |

The dimension given in the book will put the hole partly in the groove if made as shown P> 35 Fig.3-8. The dimension I gave will work fine you have .020 range to play with., You were about 7 - 71/2 hrs drive south of me. I am about as far north and west as you can get and still be in California. Bob |
