Who ever suggested the stripped hex bolt removal...thanks
I read a suggestion last week on this page about a method of removing stripped hex key type bolts and nuts. The method was to use a slightly rounded punch to hit the top of the hex, thus as I remember - burring the stripped top just enough to tap in a hex key to remove the bolt - set screw. had to do this again, but no rounded punch. Instead I used a little very sharp chisel and u\burred the edges in on the "flats" area, then tapped in the hex wrench. The same basic idea, but the idea fostered through the original suggestion. saved me having to break out a carbide insert in a good holder to remove a totally stripped out holdiing screw. I have other screws. Saved the insert other two corners, and damage to the holder. several students watched me do this, and I gave due credit to my "firends on the board"
Posting in gratitude.
