Anyone have a mill equiped with a Protrac MX2 cnc ? I bought one used that has one program in memory that I can't delete. I've followed the factory manual but it's still there. These are very user friendly cnc machines but don't have alot of storage so I need to delete un needed stuff. The company that makes this was no help their tec help did'nt see what was my problem. There must be some sort of block/safety code to prevent erasing???
I have that machine at work.
Put it in "edit" mode,
push "erase program".
That should do it.
Now you'll have to know how to create a new program.
Hit the "program mode"
It will say "program part number:"
Just type some number in.
To enter the new number, hit absolute.
Glad to help.

Yep I've done that a bunch of times, all it does is blink and the program is still there.I used one of these mills at work and really liked it. Easy to program even prompts you when your numbers don't add up .I don't have the "zip drive" option like we had at work or maybe I could send that program there.Maybe I'll have to hook up a computer thru the rs232 port???
If that dosen't work, I don't know the answer. I ran thru the cycle here to double check.
They are a nice setup. They are easy to program and operate.
There are none of those dratted g codes and m functions. That lack of a z axis is at times, a pain.
The manual I have here says "You may erase your program by pressing the ERASE PROG soft key shown on the screen shown in section 8...." "and answer yes when it asks Are You Sure?"
Sometimes I get lazy, go to "edit", "Add event", after "0" add the first new event.
Then again in edit, "delete event" from 2-99
to clear a program.
