faded micrometer numbers

Could someone please offer some advice my 0 to 6 starrett mics are great,repeat every time but I have used them and cleaned them enough that the black on the numbers has faded and it has made them hard to read.
Is there any way to bring them back to life so I can read them again? Thank you

well you could get some india ink and fill them numbers in...jim

Not sure india ink is what you want, as that's water-soluble. Some sort of enamel paint, I think.

They make a paint stick for that, rub it on let it dry and rub of excess. Works for rulers and some machine tool dials. " Lacquer stick"

Thanks,I will give it a try,it looks pretty inexpensive $1.45 a tube,compared to the cost of replacing them.
