Question Setting up a new shop....

I am looking at setting up a new shop, we all know the basics that we need. But I am putting in a dishwasher and electric range. I use my home dishwasher a lot for things like steaming rifle stocks, the electric range is for things that need to be pre heated, post heated, tempered, paint baking oven or maybe making brownies (just kidding). Probably putting in two sets of sinks, one as a mud room sink and the other for when I need water for a project or to let things soak for a while. Maybe a washing machine and dryer for the shop rags.

Plus a frig for the drinks and a couple of subs. And a microwave to heat the subs up.

Possibly a range hood or two, anything anyone else can think of?

some good music is nice to have while working, so is a picknick table good to sit down and put things together on.

air hoses hanging from the ceiling is handy when its time to clean shop, plus they are not all dirty from the floor.

Don't forget the powder room (for powder coating),

Don't forget the closet (To hang your overalls, welding jacket, etc.)

Don't forget the pantry to hold your consumables (welding rods, TIG electrodes, plasma tips, etc.)

Decent hifi. Not an overworked old boom box, but a decent set of small speakers up out of teh way and a sub under the workbench. You can get an old Marantz receiver or something similar at a garage sale near you. If you shop carefully, you could put something nice sounding together for not too much money. A good hifi will play loud enough to cover the machines and sound a lot better when you're cleaning and doing other quieter tasks.

Geez Jerry, it sounds like you're going to open a restaurant. Don't forget the live band on Saturdays and put up a sign of "Two Drink Minimum".

Jerry...You aren't REALLY having trouble with the missus are you? Sounds like the "dog house" to me.
I can't even imagine having stuff like that in my shop. Geez, I spend way too much time in there as it is!

    jf,
If you want to save buck look for some of those lighted roadside signs in front of diners, adult book stores etc.
We got some of those and installed sheetmetal on one side for a reflector and clear plexiglas on the other and mounted them in the overhead, the shop is so bright you almost need sunglasses.
    don't forget a fire extingusher,shop vac.

I was planning on wall lockers for the coveralls and a decent stereo system. Plus I will have all of my machines out, a couple right now are disassembled because of lack of space. I have a good sound system with a 4 disk CD player and some nice speakers. I do want to build a couple of spray booths, already have two over head air reels onhand may buy another. I will build a parts and supply room, but the building I am looking at already has much of this there, just hasn't been used in 15 to 20 years.

The picknick table sounds like a good idea. I woun't have a Misses until after the middle of June and she needs a place to put all of her wood working machines.

On the suject of HiFi, I found a Kenwood receiver on ebay $20, 2 Pioneer 2 way, 100 watt peak, 4x6" automotive speakers I had laying around, built some boxes out of 'walmart furature' material.

Here's a pic of the current, but unfinished project.
