    Post OT-Small LED flashlight review

I went out and got me a little LED flash light. It is made by Dorcy. Wife liked it so much, she took it for her purse. So we went to a store and picked up some more for ****s a giggles. 3 brands and 4 styles. Here are web links and my wife's (and mine) reviews.

1st one is by Dorcy. Its the first one I got

2nd one is by a company called Coast see it here http://www.quality-items-flashlights.com/product_info.php/prod ucts_id/38/XTCsid/ca3639b455faf204a8d368ba836c5458

3rd one here by Coast again

and wife got 2 of these (little ones to the right

    And now for the review.

Our scientific review consisted of: 1 shinning the lights in the car and who can read the fine print on the Reese's peanut butter cup from the longest distance. 2 General brightness and last but not least, 3 can you see the light through my wife's enclosed hand.

The Dorcy was the brightest. So bright that she put it on her wrist and we could see the glow. Only #3 came close, but not very. The light is also the biggest. It takes one AAA battery. It can go on a key chain, but its to big for my taste. Its size is approximate to most pocket knifes. The wimpy loop to put on your keys is not to be trusted what so ever. You turn it on by twisting the bottom. You can twist it so it turns on/off. Twist it off and the button on the bottom if pressed will turn it on as long as the button is depressed. A nice feature in my opinion

Light #2 is the most expensive. Its length is that of the Dorcy but is much slimmer. It takes 4 button batteries. It turns on by pushing the clip. Its light is the weakest of 4 types. No glow through the hand. Just not worth the money. Its going back to the store.

Light #3 is by the same company as #2, but the light is much brighter. While #2 was ment for more of a spot light effect, #3 casts wider light that is brighter. It fits on the key chain quite nicely. I also like the looks. The light is only on when the button is pushed. It passed the hand test very well, and the wrist test barely (had to look hard in a fairly dark car). Something to watch out for is the other items on a key chain turning on the light while in a jean pocket.

#4 light are almost as bright as #3 (wrist test only difference really). They are made by Garity and are also the cheapest. (Wal-Mart $3.50 I think?) They are the slimmest and work on a key chain well.

#4 would be a great stocking stuffer or great on any key chain. #3 for those that want some style.

For the shop #1 is the brightest, but its small size could make it easily misplaced. If your someone that likes to carry things on your belt or in your pocket, #1 is the way to go. If you need the clip, #2 is an option, but over priced if your just looking for a clip.

    That was fun.....

I have lots of LED flash lights. Single LED red ones for astronomy, big D cell, small AA cell, even an ultraviolet one for dye chem leak detection. They sure beat incandescent bulbs except when you need real brightness. For that I have a couple of rechgargeble 1 million candle power spots for checking for bears and such at night on the back property.

I have been using the Photon Light:

    http://www.photonlight.com/

Am very happy with it although it sometimes gets turned on in my pocket if I have too much junk in there with it. (Hey Wes, whats that glowing in your trousers?)

I maintain that the best flashlight to have is the one you -have with you when you need it-.

I just bought one with with a switch that gives a choice of one or three lighted led's that operates by turning a crank for 1 minute to give 30 minutes of light. Better than using dry batteries that have to be replaced.
Going to buy a few more for presents.
