Help me understand
I have been looking for a lathe for some time now for my home shop. I had a deal fall through on a Southbend, but have been watching local papers.
My question is...
7593063581
I have been watching this on Ebay, and was looking at the lathe and the questions asked. He says he has a tool shop so he does not need this messing up his house. When he was asked what the gears included(2) threaded, he couldn't answer. I don't know too much so PLEASE correct me, but can't he just look on the threading chart on the lathe and know the answer, if he really knows about the lathe. Thank you. Stephen

Probably, if they are a suitable combination for some thread....
But, maybe he figures if that is your decision-maker, you aren't serious. If it is a change-gear lathe, and only had 2 gears, you need lots more, and can deal with whichever are present.
Might be nice to know if you were looking at getting the other ones...but they wouldn't help if you are out-bid.
Me? I wouldn't worry. Just move on. An ebay machine might be any junky thing at all, unless you are able to go and inspect. Might almost be worse than no lathe.
BTW, I counted at least 5 gears present on that machine.
And it appears to be assembled out of different parts, FWTW. The carriage assembly is painted different from the rest, that may have been replaced.... could be good or bad.

when the seller does not answer or can not answer questions run away it is a scam. he knows it is not right and is acting dumb.
