Question Grizzly 8&12", Atlas/Craftsman 10&12", and South Bend 9&10" Question???

    Hello,
I'm new to this bulletin board. I am planning on building a toolpost grinder and milling attachment for a moderate sized lathe. Could anyone who owns a 8,9,10 or 12" Atlas/Craftsman, Grizzly or South Bend lathe please tell me what the distance is from the top of the compound slide (@T-slot) to the center of workpiece (chuck or collet)? I want to make these assemblies fairly universal amongst the three types of lathes. If you want to take the time to measure the T-slot demensions and the ground surface area of the compound, it would be very helpful also. Please specify the make and model of lathe you are responding about.
    Thanks,
    Eric.

Dimensions for my Atlas 12x36 are as follows: From spindle centerline to the top of the compound is 1.171". From spindle centerline to the bottom of the compound (where it swivels at protractor scale) is 3.539". Please note, the original milling attachment gets fastened directly to the cross slide after the compound is removed. "T" Slot dimensions are as follows: Total width at bottom 1.032". Slot at top .632" wide. Total depth .632". Lip at top .300 thick. The length of the slot is 3.150" long (The width of the compound).I hope this helps. Good Luck with your project.
