Does mill gear changing do this?
On my new mill, when I switch back and forth between low gear and high gear range with the lever on the right head, it reverses the direction of the spindle revolutions.
I can counter this by using the forward and reverse electricla switch that turns the spindle motor, but is it customary for the low gear high gear to reverse the spindle direction?
On the Bidgeports the switch is marked High and Low. High for forward rotation in open belt, Low for forward in back gear.
Have seen some switches on imports marked high low, others forward reverse.
Yes this is normal.
