Automated Coolant Applicator - Super!
Just finished the first (of two that I plan on making) of Glenn Wilson's Automated Coolant Applicator. Works like a champ! I have it mounted on my Millrite, and can place the droplets to just where they are needed. It will spit out a droplet up to a couple of feet, although that is certainly not needed. The droplet size (volume) can be adjusted, and the dispensing rate is continously variable from slightly less than once per second to about one every 3 seconds.
The project was not all that difficult, but I cast it aside for a long time because it appeared to be "a little much" for just a coolant dispenser.
The trickiest part (for me) was getting the two required springs wound just right.
I used the latest circuit design from the Dec 00/Jan 01 issue of Machinist's Workshop.
This has been one of those projects that, when it is complete, and works so well, it really makes your day.
Thanks Machinist Workshop! Articles like this one are what keep me re-subscribing.
