Do you have any more information, such as swing, gearhead or belt drive and type of drive.
I have several manuals and catalogs from early 60's, and that catalog number does not match.
    I have a 13" x 56" lathe, Catalog No. EM56B.
The last address I have for Sheldon is:
    National Acme Co.
    170 E. 131 St.
    Cleveland OH 44108
    1-800-553-2263
I'm not sure it is any good as National Acme is a gone goose too.

www.lathes.co.uk may have a manual for it and most likely information on it.

Devleig Bullard has information and parts lists for most Sheldon lathes. They can even tell you when it was made. The latest updated contact info for them is found at the Yahoo Sheldon Lathe group. Sheldon was purchased by National Acme in the 1980's, then National Acme was purchased by Devleig Bullard in the 1990's.

The reprint, "How to Run a Lathe" is available and was published by Sheldon in about 1944. It has great information about their lathes.

Congratulations! Sheldon is a great lathe - I have an 11-1/4" SE-56 made in April of 1946, and it has bronze bushings in the headstock. National Acme had MOST of the missing parts as recently as 1998. What they did not have, I located on Ebay. A.T.
