Post 16" 3 jaw independent adjust and scroll chuck

I have an aprox. 16" 3 jaw chuck that has independently adjustable jaws that are also moved by a scroll in the convensional fasion.
I thought it would be worth the time to make a back plate for it to mount permanetly on my old flat belt drive 19" lathe. Are there any disadvanteges to it. It seems it has the best qualities of both a 3 jaw and a 4 jaw chuck. How come I don't see more of thease? It is a bit big for most work but I could always chuck up a smaller 3 jaw in it and dial it it in for most of the smaller work.
It dosent'have to be supper accurate on this old lathe. It gets used for things that don't require super accuracy. I have an old Monarch for when I'm trying for accuracy.
Comments on this style of chuck...?
    Thanks,
    Treven.

Most of the ones I have seen came off turret lathes and were worn out.But they are handy and should be saved. They are also good for offset work being done on a production basis.Good luck with it.
I just need one more tool, just one!

I have a 6" chuck like that and love it.(even though it is very well worn) You can still get very good accuracy with them. Don't get rid of it, but if you do, let me know.

They are costly to replace - one that big is many thousands of dollars. Have fun with it they are great chucks
