Machine Technical Nomenclature & Newbie buying guide
We get a lot of posts here about buying a first machine and tips for choosing a used one...The problem is there are many VERY common technical terms used to describe used machines, especially in ebay auctions, that novices are not familiar with. So I thought maybe we could list some of the most common terms followed by their definition, some terms may have more than one definition. I'll start:
"SURFACE rust": Machine has been stored outside, the tarp rotted away and it got rained on a couple times, now every damn SURFACE is corroded.
"Never Used in Production Environment": Definition=The machine sucked so bad right off the boat from China that we sure as heck couldn't use it. No one would buy it if they saw it in person, so we're listing it on ebay with freshly "frosted" ways and a blurry picture
*Inspired by a used motorcycle buyers guide in an old issue of Motorcyclist magazine (IIRC). Defined terms such as "Never Raced" which means something like "I crashed so bad in the first corner I never got to complete a lap."
