    Post Has anyone ever seen?

Once upon a time a long ,long time ago in a machine shop far,far away I caught a passing glimpse of an involute form endmill cutting a gear in a b'port mill has anyone ever seen one of these for sale or was it a custom?
I just need one more tool, just one!

most likely, custom. circular cutters have been available for a very long time (compare to present day form cutter), but I have heard first hand of parts of an involute form being groung in to endmills.

    wierdscience:

There is a company in californy that makes downhole oilpumps with big gears milled on Haas mills with end mills - quite an achievement. They spent a horriffic amount of money perfecting the program to mill a proper profile.

So to answer your question - no tool, but yes.
