    Default Making S.B. Carriage Stops

At the end of the school year I realized that I had more broken carriage stops than useable ones. Here is how I solved the problem.

Very nice job, Errol. A more modern appearance but fits in well, probably lasting a lot longer than the originals.

For future SB reference, here's a closeup of the SB 4 position carriage stop for 9" lathes. It rotates smoothly, has 4 detent positions and a setscrew (hopefully soft tipped) to lock each of the 4 settings. Den

    Default Indexing Stop

Cool. I think I see a new project in the future. After the half dozen already in the queue of course.

Or you can do a dual purpose, carriage stop and indicator holder....

Nice work Erroll -- that stop is massive!

You might want to consider cutting a slot at the apex of the v-groove so the
carriage stop will shear before it takes a chunk of the lathe way with it.

I love working with Dura Bar, but these new engineered cast irons have considerably
higher yeild strength than traditional gray cast iron.
