    Default Taig CNC Question

What could a fellow expect to pay for one of these lathes like the one in the following link? I have a co-worker that races R/C Cars and he wants to make his own parts. The parts he's showed me were made out of mostly Aluminum and some Titanium. Better yet, what would some of you gents reccomend as far as a machine? TIA, Paul.

    Paul--

Check out the following websites for info and pricing on the Taig mill you found on Ebay. You have to dig a bit to find the price listings, but both list the CNC mill in the $2000 range.

I've never seen a Taig in person so I can't personally comment on their quality or capabilities, though many folks seem to like them.

I have a cnc Taig, nice machine for the price.

A little bigger and nicer than a sherline. Leadscrews are twice as big as a sherline, which helps with backlash (wearwise)

I can tune my taig to .0015" backlash with care, usually .003"

If you can live with the backlash they are nice machines for small hobby parts.

On mine the spindle motor was very weak, tightening the belt would stall it. I replaced the head with a sherline motor/spindle. Most I've talked to say their motor is fine.
