APM Show - Windsor VT

Is any one else going to the American Precision Museum show in Windsor this Saturday? This must be the 6th year of this show. Stop and say hi if you go.

I've been to a few and they were worth the trip. Bill Huxhold's German craftsman precision Hardinge lathe scale models and steam plants are incredible to see. Several vendors usually show up, one with quite a few books, several with used small tools, chucks, cutting tools, etc. New England Brass has been there in the past with many Bison items on display.

Admission is cheap and includes admission to the American Precision Museum, down the street from the show ... and this is Vermont, not Atlanta or NYC so it's easy (and safe) to wander around.

The APM was the site of the Robbins and Lawrence Armory, has numerous special machines for rifle stocks, receivers, etc. along with many other old machines. They also run some of the very old lathes for demos.

So Doug, whatta ya got there?

nheng - I've got a couple of hit and miss engines, a "Whatzit" and a "Maverick",
both Philip Duclos designs and a not yet finished version of a Zero-Six. Couple of other small things.

You may be thinking of my son, who is also Errol Groff. He graduated in 1986 from the plumbing shop and is now a corrections officer in RI. Go figure.

I taught at Norwich Tech (Norwich CT) from October of 89 to about '96. I have mostly been at Ellis Tech in Danielson but also spent two years at Wilcox Tech in Meriden.

I was quite sure I recognized the name from the plumbing shop in the mid 1980's. As was surprising to see a name on this board, somewhat close to home, that I actually recognized. I was thinking to myself "from plumbing shop to Manufacturing Technology instructor, that's a bit of a change".

I did not know your son on a personal level, just name recognition.

I graduated in 1988 from Machine Tool. Sad that the shop is gone now, soon to be followed by the building itself.

Nice work on your engine.
