    Default Irritating tiny ball oilers

My Clausing 8511 knee mill has them. I hate them.
There has to be something better than those irritating things.
When trying to squirt some oil in, barely any gets in and certainly not
enough to get to the top oil holes in the saddle.
The image shows the oil path, see the the pipe cleaners.

There's a trick to everything of course.

Find a pump oiler which has a tapered tip. File or grind the length of the tip such that when you depress the spring loaded ball, the tapered sides of the tip seat against the sides of the hole without bottoming out the ball. Next grind a slot across end of the tip, using a thin file or cutoff wheel with your Dremel tool. Now, when you depress the tip into the oiler, the slot gives a place for the oil to flow around the ball, and the taper seals it, resulting in no mess!

    Default ball oilers

Mike,I'm quite interested to know how you got the ball oilers out in the first place.I have a couple on my lathe that appear to be stuck half way.I can't get at them from the back to tap them out,so how do they come out?

An easy-out makes short work of them.

I have taken out a couple by mig welding a #8 washer on top of the oiler and then prying them out.
