Angry OT: New Zone Alarm Security Suite

I have been happily using Zone Alarm security suite for the last couple of years and the firewall for about 4 years. Two weeks ago, my subscription ran out so I ponied up for a new subscription. Now my machine is a complete dog. It takes 15 minutes after boot before the system is even semi usable and then it is still very slow. Has anyone else experienced problems with the ver. 7 seruity suite? If it matters the machine is an acer laptop running XP Pro, 1.8ghz amd, 512 meg ram.

    ZoneAlarm version:6.5.737.000
    TrueVector version:6.5.737.000
    Driver version:6.5.737.000

This is what I've been using since the new version came out with no noticable
delays. This is the "free" version used as a firewall only. I have AVG for an
    antivirus pgm. Both working great.

I've been using the "pro" version ZA firewall forever, with AVG, and no problems with booting.

The "security suites" all seem to have issues.... maybe it's better to use separate products.

That also because then there is no "one point of attack" for hacking..... What AVG might miss is blocked anyhow, or what ZA misses is swept up by AVG......

With one vendor, you get consistent goof-ups.... If they missed an issue on one product, they likely missed it on all. If they can be "buffer overloaded" on one, they may have re-used that code in another place.

I just re-upped myself. No problems.
Did you do a clean install or just update?

Yes I used the clean install option, but I let the software remove it, I didn't do it manually first. This is all version 7 stuff. I actually think it is more the anti spyware part that is giving me the trouble. If I turn that off it is much better. I have had problems in the past trying to get seperate apps to play nice. That was the reason that I went to the suite in the first place. I guess it is back to the drawing board, although I think that I will wipe my hard drive and try a clean install of everything. I haven't done that for over a year so I am sure there is quite a bit of junk hiding that needs to be delt with.
