Default Semi - O/T A little antique work

Not a lot of machining on this job, but here's one reason I decided to get into metal work:

A broken tuner bearing support on a Martin guitar made in 1867:

    The finished job:

It took a bit of doing, but I was able to replace that part without removing or disassembling the worm shaft, or losing any of the original patina on the brass.

    Here's the full story:

    VERY nice!

Doing the job so that the other parts are not "cleaned up" is the real deal....!

    Thumbs up

Nice work Frank! That's the kind of stuff I like to do. Like bringing a 1908 Speedometer back to life. Or duplicating a 1903 ignition switch. Or giving new life to a 1919 Ford generator. Anyone can hog out metal and make chips. It's your ingenuity and problem solving that brings your craftsmanship to the top.

Excellent job. That's much like jewelery making and repairs.
