Default Firefox 2.0.0.4 and this forum

Anyone upgraded to the latest Firefox yet?

I have check spelling as I type enabled but on this forum it doesn't work automatically unless I right click and select "spell check this field"
Then you have to select each word, right click and you get a few options, some that far out they don't even share the start letter of the word.

The old spell checker from Spellbound used to work fine but it won't work with 2.0.0.4

Failing that can you go back to the older version of Firefox ?

I found the same John. The automatic function isn't. I don't recommend going to an earlier version of Firefox.

Anyone have a liink to where to complain. the Mozilla website is like driving round London, all one way and going in circles..

The post editor in this BBS software has some serious quirks that cause me problems from time to time. Not much that can be done about that.

I AM using that release, AND there is a working spell check.

It never DID work before, with an old version and 98SE. Possibly the spell check is "imported" from word..... I dunno, it just appeared, working. never had it before. Underlines in red anything it questions.

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.4 under XP with "check spelling as I type" selected under Options/Advanced. It works fine in this forum and others. As J Tiers said, it underlines in red if it doesn't recognize a word.

Likewise, I've been using 2.0.0.4 to browse this forum since it was released last Wednesday, and it works fine. I've also got the "check spelling as you type" selected, which I find is a lot more convenient than the right-clicking "check spelling."

By the way JT, the check-as-you-type, red-line feature has been working for me here on HSM and PM since the very first release of 2.0

I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.12, it did an automatic update yesterday & then gave me a notice that it wasn't the latest version. I declined the offer, for the moment, to download v 2.0.whatever - should I stay with what I've got or is there a compelling reason to get the latest incarnation? I'm not to bovvered abart splel chukkers

FF 2.0.0.4 here as well, and the non automatic spell check is not FF's fault as far as I can tell. From what I have seen, it happens only on PHP bulletin board software, and only in the quick reply box. If you go to the standard "post reply" button, spell check is automatic.

I have no idea why this is, and on some PHP boards it has been this way for me since the first spell checking release of FF. I looked for an answer at first, and never found one, so I just enable it before posting the thread, or go to the long reply form. Anyhow, I was surprised when I saw at first, that it worked automatically in the QR box here and on one other PHP board I use. With the new release, it is no longer automatic for quick reply there either.

    Later,
    Jason
