    Default Meister and UNIQ dro's

Does anyone here have and use one of the above dro's???

I am getting ready to purchase a dro to replace my failed dro and want some info/feedback about the two above dro's. Thanks for any info.

I know this takes it another direction, but I recently bought one of the Sino DRO's from www.cdcotools.com for my lathe and am really impressed. Its quite well made for something under $500. Its not a Newall like came on my mill, but its nicely made and came with decent mounting hardware etc. The DRO case was cast metal rather than the plastic I expected. The aluminum encased glass scales came with some base extrusions with molded in ledges. You mount the extrusion, and make it level and true and then just bolt the scale in place and add the extruded shield that mates nicely with the extrusion. The only thing that I felt was unfinished about it was that the aluminum shields I mentioned (really a second shield as the scale is already an enclosed and shielded unit) did not have end caps. There were holes at each end that implied they should be there. I called and the proprietor said they all came that way. So...I took some 1/4 aluminum plate and made my own. After scribing the outline on the plate, I bandsawed them out and used a file and belt sander to fit them to the extrusion. (third picture). They are held in place with some stainless #4-40 screws I had around from an old hard disk drive.

The manual is hard to translate from "Chinglish", but I got enough out of it to do what I need to do with it.
