    Default Belt Grinder

Hi, my name is Vin and this is my first post. I have only recently bought a mini lathe and have no experience what so ever with machining.
I have started to make some components for a belt grinder, I have cast an idler and drive wheel over the last couple of days. I have machined and fitted bearings to the idler.Tonight I machined the drive wheel to shape. I need to bore the centre out for the shaft (3/4") how should i do this? I do intend to put a keyway in the shaft and pulley but not sure how to then retain the pulley.

You will need to drill and bore the drive and pully. so you will need a 1/2" boring bar. If you have a machine reamer you can drill it 23/32" and ream it if you have a reamer.

many times to hold a drive roller and a drive pully to a shaft they are keyed and have set screws over the keys and at 90 degrees there would be a second set screw. so you might want to have a good size hub a little longer and bigger around for the drive side.
